Most Expensive Mercedes Ever Made?

What to you get when you mix gold, rubies, and a Mercedes McLaren SLR? An $11 million tacky looking car that you should be afraid to take out of your garage. A Swiss car builder has unleashed this gaudy monstrosity on the world in what must be an effort to prove that it takes a lot of money to look this horrifying.

Automobile customizer Ueli Aniker and a team of 35 people spent 30,000 man-hours creating his ”Red Gold Dream”. The car contains $5.5 million in precious metals, including 11 pounds of gold. The interior features 600 rubies. There are even gemstones on the lug nuts. The wheels themselves are 14k gold.

In a nod toward security, Aniker included a GPS tracking device and remote shut-off. When you design a car and initial the exhaust pipes in gold, a GPS tracker is the least you can do.
